Entries for 2019 are now closed

Thanks to those of you that applied for this years’ SWDDS Awards! We had a ball looking at all the weird and wonderful designs and ideas that came through.

And we’ll be announcing the finalists very shortly.

In the meantime, we’ve put together some handy tips to help all you budding design and digital folk in your future careers.

4 steps to a fruitful career

1. Portfolio-on-point

Put your entry in your portfolio. Graduation is coming up, and your portfolio is what’s going to help you stand out from the crowd

Create a killer portfolio
Dos and don’ts from the studio
Fake it ‘til you make it

4. Keep an eye out

Want to know a secret? All creatives are curious. Stay with us and you’ll soon be able to see what you were up against. We’ll be announcing the winners on 23 May 2019

2. Embrace discomfort

No one likes being let down. But that awkward feeling you have right now, use it to continue to burst forth from your comfort zone. It takes guts to enter a competition, so enter more of them.

Find another competition

3. Have a mingle

No, not a chocolate (where did they go?). We mean go to design events and free training. Here are some coming up soon in the South West, and beyond.

Free product design sesh, Bristol
D&AD Festival, London
Swanky design events in the UK

Judgement Day

23 May

All finalists will be invited to the Proctor and Stevenson HQ in Bristol. (And your travel and expenses paid for.)

Here you’ll each be given a 30-minute opportunity to talk the judges through your masterpiece, and convince them that the prize should be yours!

(Don’t worry, our judges are lovely people. This isn’t Dragon’s Den. There’ll be none of that good-cop, bad-cop crap. This is merely the chance for us to get to know you better, and for you to say what you want to say, the way you want to say it.)

Where is it all happening?

Of Banksy, Wallace and Gromit, and ‘Cheers Drive!’ fame. Oh, and pies. Lots of good pies.

Judgement Day will take place at P+S HQ

Finalists will join us on 23 May in Bristol at Proctor and Stevenson’s Old Printworks building. (Travel and expenses will be paid for, never fear!)

You can find us in Easton – the vibrant, up-and-coming creative quarter of the city. Gert lush!
